About Audio Design

The company is an established market player when it comes to home and car audio systems, with decades of experience in the bag. Their owner, Tommy Regan, is a professional driver himself (a NASCAR racer, no less) - and had an equally top career in management.

We've had a chat with him to find about the difficulties of moving into an online space in a skeptic market - and how Searchanise made the transition smoother.

How did Shopify's default search work for you?

Tommy: "Shopify's standard search tool at the outset but realized it was simply lacking. That is why we switched to Searchanise.

"There were no filtering options built into Shopify, and filtering became vital to us at a certain point. If you are going to have a thousand products or more, the filters start to become crucial. After we added 400 or so products I started to look for a better search engine."

That's when you decided to switch to Searchanise?

Tommy: "Searchanise proved an instant win. Some of the other ones were charging per search, I believe, so we would have had to pay an obscene amount of money because the traffic on the website was always massive. It was a big turn-off.

"We just couldn't afford to go down that road. We don't know how many people might visit our site and end up using the search but not making a purchase. It was too big of a gamble to even consider.

"When I tried Searchanise, the case was closed for me. I had an inkling it was going to be a great app for us - and so it turned out to be. I was extremely happy about its autocomplete function, the app did a fantastic job."
