Accessibility Statement

We’re committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our widgets and interfaces and aim to meet or exceed the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.

Measures to Support Accessibility

To support accessibility, we at Searchanise take the following measures:

  • Incorporate WCAG 2.1 AA and ADA standards into our widget design and development
  • Conduct internal testing using accessibility tools and keyboard navigation
  • Engage with customer feedback to guide future accessibility improvements
  • Train our team on accessibility best practices in design, development, and content

Accessibility of Searchanise Widgets

Searchanise provides search and navigation solutions for e-commerce sites, including the Instant Search Widget, Search Results Widget (available across all platforms), and Recommendation Widgets (available on select platforms). These widgets are built to enhance the user experience and are developed with accessibility as a core consideration.

We have implemented several accessibility features to support a wide range of users, including those who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, or assistive technologies.

Accessibility Features Implemented

Responsive Design: Our widgets adjust smoothly across screen sizes (desktop, tablet, and mobile) to support all users.

Keyboard Navigation:
  • The Instant search widget supports arrow key navigation across search suggestions.
  • The Search results widget supports tab-based navigation across product listings and filters.
  • The Recommendation widgets support tab-based navigation across product tiles and Call-to-Action (CTA) buttons such as “Add to Cart” or “View Details.”

Focus Management: Visible focus states for all interactive elements to ensure clarity for keyboard users.

Screen Reader Support: Our widgets use semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to provide meaningful labels and roles.

Error Handling: Clear, descriptive error messages when no results are found or an invalid input is detected.

Color Contrast Options: Searchanise default templates help merchants ensure sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds to support visual accessibility.

Known Limitations

While many accessibility improvements have been implemented, we recognize that not all features may yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA in full.

For example:
  • Some widget focus states may be impacted by third-party store themes.
  • ARIA attributes are still being refined in some areas of the interface.
  • The HTML tag structure of the Search results widget needs to be further optimized to improve accessibility for assistive technologies.

We are actively working to address these issues in future releases.

Technical Information

Searchanise's accessibility relies on the following technologies:
  • Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)
  • Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite (WAI-ARIA)
  • Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • JavaScript (JS)

The Searchanise widgets are designed to be compatible with major browsers and assistive technologies, including:
  • Screen readers (NVDA)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Mobile accessibility tools (TalkBack, iOS Voice Control)

Compatibility has been tested on modern versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
