If you've ever added a review app to your Shopify store, you've probably run into the same two problems: getting shoppers to actually leave reviews, and then getting those reviews to do more than sit quietly on the product page. Filtering a collection by rating, or sorting search results to surface your best-reviewed products first, used to mean waiting for someone to build a custom integration between your review app and your search app.

Searchanise Product Reviews is built to close both gaps at once: make reviews easier to collect, and make the ones you collect work harder across your store.

That's a much more compelling product discovery story. A shopper can go from “Show me running shoes” to “Show me running shoes rated 4+ stars” or even “Show me the best-reviewed products first.” It brings a tangible improvement to the shopping experience.

Collect more reviews with multiple touchpoints

Convenient review collection creates more opportunities to build review volume and fresh social proof.

Give customers more than one way to leave a review. Searchanise Product Reviews sends one post-purchase email per order — not one per product — with a review link for every item a customer bought, so someone who ordered three products gets a single email, not three.

You can also collect reviews from several touchpoints beyond email, including:

  • Write a review on order pages — lets buyers submit verified reviews right from their order history
  • How was your order? — a review prompt on the order status page for fulfilled products still awaiting a review
  • Review status under products — a review status or Leave a review link under each eligible item on the order status page
  • My Reviews page — where customers see pending items, track their reviews, and edit submissions
  • My Reviews in account menu — adds a link to the My Reviews page in customer account navigation

You don't need to turn on all of them — pick what fits your store. Customers only see products from fulfilled orders that are eligible for review, and they're never asked to review the same product twice — even if it was purchased across multiple orders, or already reviewed through your storefront or a review request email.

Show up reviews everywhere shoppers looks

Recently Shopify introduced a standard called the product_review metaobject — a shared format for storing ratings that any review app can use, instead of each one building its own custom setup. The Searchanise Product Reviews app was built on this standard from day one.

Because Product Reviews and Searchanise Search & Filter both use this same standard, they connect automatically — simply turn the toggle On. Your ratings and review counts show up on:

  • Product pages
  • Product cards
  • Searchanise Search results
  • Collection filters and recommendation widgets
  • Google search results

This means shoppers can filter a collection down to 4 stars and up, or sort search results by rating instead of relevance. On the product page itself, reviews display with photos and star ratings, filterable by photo-only or newest to oldest.

Reviews that meet Shopify's syndication requirements also publish automatically to the Shop app, putting your ratings in front of shoppers browsing Shop, not just visitors who land on your storefront.

Approve before it's public, get flagged when it isn't good news

New reviews can be held for approval before they go live, and negative feedback triggers an alert — so a bad review doesn't sit unanswered while a customer waits to hear back.

Start with reviews you've already collected — not from zero

If you are currently using another product review app, you can migrate to Searchanise Product Reviews, so ratings you've already earned carry straight over. Check out how to do it.

Stay in control. Your data stays yours

Reviews are stored in Shopify metaobjects rather than a third-party database, so that data stays part of your store's own architecture — not locked inside a review app's system you'd lose access to if you ever switched.

How it works

Install Searchanise Product Reviews from the Shopify App Store, then connect it to Searchanise Search & Filter from your Searchanise admin — no manual mapping required, since both apps read and write to the same metaobject structure.

Best practices

Turn on the rating filter first for collections with a lot of similar SKUs — apparel, for example. It's the fastest way for a shopper to cut a crowded collection down to the options worth considering.
Sort by rating on your best-selling collections rather than your whole catalog. Rating-based sort works best where you already have review volume; on low-review collections, relevance sort will usually serve shoppers better.
Turn on approval before publishing if your brand is sensitive to what goes live unreviewed, but weigh that against the delay it adds between a review being written and appearing on the page.
Add the My Reviews page to your customer account menu so customers can find it easily and manage their reviews without hunting for it.
If you're switching from another review app, confirm with that app's developer whether your existing reviews are already stored as Shopify Standard Review Metaobjects — Okendo, Loox, and Judge.me all support the standard, but coverage can vary by when a store adopted the app.
After importing, check that reviews display correctly on your storefront and are still appearing in the Shop app before uninstalling your previous review app.

Closure

Reviews shouldn't just prove that a product is good after shoppers find it—they should help shoppers find the right product in the first place.
