Customer Profile: Bicycle Warehouse is a Southern California-based cycling retailer that has been in business since 1992, with three brick-and-mortar locations and a robust Shopify-powered online store.

The Problem: Shopify's Native Search Hit a Wall

Bicycle Warehouse sells everything from complete bikes to individual derailleur hangers. A wheel needs different filters than a handlebar, a saddle needs different specs than a brake rotor. With 100,000 SKUs across dozens of categories, their old setup simply ran out of room.

Shopify's Search & Discovery had a hard cap on filters — no way to build category-specific filter sets. Shoppers landing on broad collection pages had no way to narrow down thousands of products to the one they actually needed.

On top of that: misspelled searches returned zero results, costing silent sales. And every new product arrival required manual spot-checking to make sure it surfaced in the right place.

The Solution: Searchanise

After a recommendation from their network, Bicycle Warehouse implemented Searchanise on their Shopify store. Setup was seamless — and so is keeping up with new arrivals. As new products come in, they add the filters and everything slots into place automatically.

Average order value remains strong, and the team now focuses on margin optimization through merchandising rather than firefighting catalog issues.
“It really helps manage a large catalog — getting everything to make sense instead of just being a jumble of products. New products flow into the site and I'm confident they'll end up where they need to be. It's taken a lot of administrative time off my plate.”
